I am a Journalism graduate, Advanced Diploma (online, print and broadcast) Loyalist College. Throughout my three years of study, I have obtained and continue to maintain paid work experience in my field as a; news, sports and weather anchor, news, sports reporter and writer, radio play-by-play hockey broadcaster and Hockey TV internet play-by-play broadcaster (Ontario Junior Hockey League). I am grateful for the opportunities I presently have and I look forward to my future in becoming a seasoned journalist.
Through my college education I have grown in my experience as a multi-media journalist within; QNet News and Quinte News, producing and delivering quality news stories. I also gained valuable experience and have become adept as a sports website content writer, for the Junior C Napanee Raiders and Junior A Wellington Dukes hockey teams, contributing compelling stories and game summaries. Also, I continue to prepare and deliver quality on air news, sports and weather radio casts for Quinte Broadcasting; 800 CJBQ, MIX 97 and ROCK 107 and provide play-by-play for hockey broadcasts on radio and internet. In year two of my program, I was noted in the "Broadcast Educators Association of Canada Student Award for Exceptional Quality as a contributing member to a production in the role of play-by-play hockey broadcaster."
During the past 7 years, I have gained valuable experience as a volunteer with Cogeco TV Belleville, Ontario, in the capacity of TV play-by-play broadcaster, TV colour commentary, audio, graphics, camera, production editing, and replay, while covering the following sports; high school basketball, football, rugby, hockey, minor floorball, baseball, soccer, roller derby, Quinte AAA Minor Midget hockey, World Under 19 Women’s Floorball Championship, Ontario Hockey League Belleville Bulls, and Queens Golden Gaels University football. For this I received a "Service Ontario Award for Volunteering, 2017."
Becoming a writer and a broadcaster is something that I have always wanted to do and I have taken the steps to achieve my goal. In the ever evolving Journalism field I look forward to keeping up with the fast pace that my career will bring and I will always strive to achieve excellence and grow in my ability to present quality stories for my readers.
